Simon Cowell: 'I've Always Wanted' Paula Abdul' on 'X Factor'
Simon Cowell wants Paula Abdul and British singer Cheryl Cole to join him and L.A. Reid as judges on Fox "The X Factor."
Cowell told Deadline.com's Nikki Finke that Cole is in negotiations but talks have yet to begin with Abdul, his foil for eight seasons on "American Idol."
"I've always wanted Paula," Cowell said. "Always been very vocal about that. I missed her the second she left the show. Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain...We've agreed that we would meet as many people as possible, and now we're reaching the deadline we've got to make the decision soon. But I think she's got a really good shot."
Of Cole, Cowell said, "She's just got a great ability to communicate. Shes a great judge. She's smart. It's just a hunch. If people take to her like the British public did, I think she's going to do really well in America.
An unknown in the U.S., Cole was a judge on the fifth season of the British version of "The X Factor." She gained fame as a member of Girls Aloud and has scored two No. 1 solo albums in the U.K. A tumultuous marriage and a barroom scrape got her a spot in the tabloids, but she continues to be one of Britain's most popular celebrities.
Bits of information regarding "The X Factor" have emerged over the last month, as the show and Cowell attempt to grab the same headline treatment as "American idol" and NBC's "The Voice," which premieres Tuesday (Apr. 26). Cowell has also said he was hoping George Michael and Mariah Carey would be involved in some capacity with the show as well.

Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha's 'Till the World Ends' Remix
Britney Spears has called an impressive pop music summit by inviting Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj onto a remix of her latest "Femme Fatale" single, "Till the World Ends." The track leaked online late Friday (Apr. 22), before it was scheduled to be officially released next Monday (Apr. 25), according to a countdown on all three pop singers' websites.
"Chimpanzees is hating, but I take it all in stride/Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/Told you they'd revive your career, but somebody lied/I ain't talking poultry when I say this chicken's fried!" Minaj raps with a "Monster"-esque intensity to open the song. After Spears delivers the first verse, Minaj introduces Ke$ha, who sings the track's pre-chorus and mirrors Spears in other patches of the song. The final third of the song also features a nifty instrumental breakdown reminiscent of the dubstep interlude in "Femme Fatale's" first single, "Hold It Against Me."
Spears, Minaj and Ke$ha all teased the release of a remix to "Till the World Ends" -- currently at No. 9 on the Hot 100 -- in Twitter posts Friday afternoon. Minaj has been tapped to open for Spears on her summer tour beginning June 17, while Ke$ha originally co-wrote "Till the World Ends" alongside Max Martin, Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, and Alexander Kronlund.
The "Till the World Ends" remix follows Spears' guest spot on a "Rih-mix" to Rihanna's single "S&M" that was released last Monday (Apr. 11). The new version of "S&M" helped the track land atop the Hot 100 with a combined 293,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Beyonce's 'Girls' vs. Lady Gaga's 'Judas': Which Single Is Better?
Between Beyoncé's "Girls (Who Run the World)" and Lady Gaga's "Judas," it's a huge week for leaked singles by pop divas.
Beyoncé's "Girls," which hit the web yesterday and is the first peek at her upcoming album, finds the singer venturing outside her comfort zone with sputtering drums and a sample by indie electronic duo Major Lazer.
Gaga's "Judas," meanwhile, also sounds like nothing else on Top 40 radio right now, as the singer spews biblical references over some seriously wild industrial dance synths by producer RedOne. The track leaked last Friday and is vying for a No. 1 debut on the Hot 100 this week.
Of course, Beyoncé and Gaga, who in 2010 teamed up for the hits "Telephone" and "Videophone," have never shied away from taking creative risks -- in fact, it's part of what's propelled them into pop music's upper echelon. But since the early reaction to "Girls (Who Run the World)" and "Judas" seems to have fans divided and, in some cases, disappointed, we're just asking: Whose single would be better?

Demi Lovato Leaving Disney's 'Sonny with a Chance'
Demi Lovato is leaving "Sonny With a Chance," the Disney Channel TV series that made her a star.
In an interview with People magazine, Lovato said she didn't "think going back to 'Sonny' would be healthy for my recovery." Instead, she said she wants to focus on her music career.
The 18-year-old entered a treatment facility for three months last year to deal with what were termed emotional and physical issues.
In a statement Tuesday, Disney Channel said it respects Lovato's decision to focus on her music and "not immediately" return to acting. "Sonny" will continue airing as a spinoff titled "So Random," with the original show's cast, guest stars and musical acts, Disney said.
The company also offered its support while Lovato works to "improve her health and bounce back from adversity."
In an interview airing Friday on "Good Morning America" and "20/20," Lovato recounted developing an eating disorder as an 8-year-old who faced bullying. She later started cutting her wrists to vent her despair, she said.
"I've spoken openly about being bullied throughout the past few years, but one thing that I've never been able to feel comfortable talking about was the effects that it had on my life, afterwards," Lovato told ABC News' Robin Roberts.
"I literally didn't know why they were being so mean to me," she said. "And when I would ask them why, they would just say, `Well, you're fat.'"
While undergoing treatment at a residential facility in Illinois, Lovato said she was sustained by thoughts of her younger sister, Madison, who plays the daughter of Eva Longoria's character on ABC's "Desperate Housewives."
"A picture of my little sister ... was one of the main things that kept me going," Lovato said. "I just kept thinking, 'OK, set this example for your little sister.'"
She said also wants to set an example for other young girls facing the challenges she's battling to let them know "it doesn't have to be this way."
Disney said the "Sonny" spinoff has "allowed us to save over 75 full-time jobs and of course, business for the many vendors who get work from the production."
